QUOTE(redhrts @ Oct 1 2011, 12:22 AM) The big PvP change we’re making is trying to get Equalized PvP in by November. We call it Champion mode. In this model, Gear still looks cool on you, but for Ranked competition, Gear stats are removed, and all players have the same starting tech tree and units. this sounds like something the community wanted for a long time. any quirks or downgrades to this? What community? They decided to agree to balanced PvP and chose the easiest and laziest way possible to implement it. If I read correctly, we cannot choose equipment nor tech tree. I play games for fun, not rankings, so in this case I'll go with unranked customized PvP instead of balanced boring-to-death PvP where the only difference in flavor comes from buying a new civ like Celts. I don't think I'm alone in this. |

I don't think I'm alone in this. No gear PvP is exactly what the community wanted and needs, but it needs to be properly balanced. Given design flaws and other issues, this is much easier said than done. But we'll see. |

Increasing gather rates, construction and train rates is easy. HP and damage tend to even out. |

The game won't be slow at all.IMO it's really fast the way it is now.It will be slower but not slow. What I hate in this game is that you gather resources so fast that you can't use them all on military in age 2 for example to push harder and it's always better to age up.This is because of fast gather rate, cheap age up,slow building of military buildings, often forgeting to build houses(by lower level players),the fact that max pop is 140 until age3.Also when u're forced to build all 4 TC(for more pop) asap ofc that u'll sit back and boom cause if you don't your enemy will and it take about 12 vills to make constant vills from 4 TC which will pay off in 1 min including the training time for the vills. That way the game is a lot more macro dependant than micro. I liked the aoe3 way where you can rush really hard or go for fast age3 aggressive strats and your enemy can't just boom and have max economy in 2 min. You can even do all-in rushes, novill rushes etc. and map control was really important too. This post has been edited by gp_007: Oct 1 2011, 02:42 PM |

I don't think the devs can win for nothing. They announce a fair mode and people are already complaining, without it even being out yet. They gotta have the worst job. No wonder they don't make a good game. Kinda hard when every Tom,champion, and Harry complain about every little thing wrong, or thing that could go wrong. Just sad... |

Doesn't matter what anyone says champ mode will probably be alright but I am gonna love still pvping with gear. It add's more custom ability to the game. I am going to be purchasing celts as soon as they get releases and I also heard that they are mainly ground units? Is this correct. |
